My Go-To Beauty for Travel

I’m no expert when it comes to packing for travel, but what I do know is I can’t get on a plane without these essentials!

Skincare & Haircare

My Current Skincare Routine:

La Roche Posay Hyalu B5-
This is my current Hyaluronic Acid in my daily routine, and to be completely honest, it isn’t worth it considering the price-point. I don’t notice it doing anything outstanding. I’m not asking for it to snatch my skin to the heavens but for $69.99, It’s quite basic. Another thing I find with serums is that I always prefer a cheaper alternative, as I use them every single day so I don’t want to spend that much every few months.

Freezeframe Lash Perscription-
If you haven’t heard anything about this Lash Serum, I’m about to school you.
It’s liquid magic! Within two or three day’s of use, my lashes are noticeably fuller, and with a month of use, they are super long and luscious. So much so, that people ask me what I use on my lashes. To my knowledge ( and as per the Freezeframe website ), your lashes constantly grow to a certain length and fall out on the daily. This serum slows down that process and/or even stops them from falling out. This results in our lashes growing past the point they usually do!

Feel Good Inc Sensitive Sunscreen-
It’s really important when you are at the beach or ESPECIALLY swimming in the ocean to be smart about your sunscreen. Two ingredients that are in sunscreens that can be quite toxic to the ocean, and marine life, are Oxybenzone and Octinoxate. These ingredients are actually banned in some countries, such as Hawaii, as they are known to contribute to coral bleaching. I approached the girls at my local health food shop and they recommended this one, particularly the sensitive one so that it can be used on the face as well as the body.

La Roche Posay Anthelios 50+-
This was the sunscreen I used on my face when I wasn’t going near the ocean! When I’m sitting in the sun, the first place I burn is my forehead, not that uncommon right? The consistency of this sunscreen is so incredibly lightweight and not tacky that I don’t find it a task to reapply often. It’s also a massive bonus that it makes your skin look SPECTACULAR! The way your skin glows makes you eager to apply sunscreen e v e r y s i n g l e d a y, which your skin will thank you for.

Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk-
I picked this tan up specifically for this trip, and I hadn’t tried it before.
I am a MASSIVE ADVOCATE for gradual tans and I feel like they don’t get the recognition they deserve. The idea of having a can of tanning foam or spray sitting in my carry on ready to explode at any second, stresses me out!!!!! I’d rather sit contently looking like a porcelain dinner plate than worry about that… not to be dramatic haha! I lather up the week before I go away, and use it to maintain the natural tan I get whilst on holidays. This Bondi one absorbed and set so quickly, I would definitely purchase again.

Avene Cleanance Cleanser-
I spoke about this cleanser in my Current Skincare Routine blog post.
It has done wonders for my Oily-Acne prone skin and I highly recommend this product for those of you with similar skin types.

De Lorenzo Heat Protection-
This is the ONLY heat protection spray that I actually feel does something! I have had a little bit of a break from dying my hair and I’ve noticed how much healthier it feels. I was a little bit perplexed as to what changed because I hadn’t reduced the amount of heat I used, but I’m confident I have this spray to thank for how smooth my hair has been.

Klorane Protective Oil-
This oil ticks a lot of boxes for me, I like an oil that isn’t too heavy but gives a sleek finish. A big stand-out for me is the benefit of colour protection. This product claims to protect your hair from UV rays, salt, sand AND chlorine! Having colour treated hair, this is music to my ears, all these external elements have an impact on the way your hair colour lasts. I love it!

Now, what I actually bought along with me is a mix of stuff I wanted to force myself to use up alongside a few of my favourites. I will elaborate on what products in particular but I figured I’d HAVE to use up these products while I was away, simply because I didn’t have any other option haha!

Covergirl Outlast Setting Spray-
This setting spray is super hydrating and refreshing! I love to use my finishing sprays layer after layer, this way it helps to make my 500 layers of concealer and powder look like maybe… 5 layers haha. It’s designed to OUTLAST humidity and sweaty situations, therefore PERFECT for tropical getaways.

Natio Flawless Foundation-
I used to use this foundation when I first started wearing makeup, with the guidance of my mum who was terrified I would clog my pores with crap ( I was probably 14, so I get it). I loved it at the time but moved onto bigger and better things. I recently recommended it to my friend who didn’t fancy it so much, she passed it on to me to finish up as she found it just sat on the skin like a greasy layer and it didn’t last long, and she was right. That’s why I took it with me! I had to force myself to use it while I was away because otherwise, it just sits in my drawer.

NYX Total Control Drop Foundation-
THE best product for adjusting your foundation colour! I use it with all sorts of foundations and it doesn’t alter the finish. With the dropper style applicator, you can measure out exactly how much you need to create your perfect concoction.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer-
For a while, this was my favourite concealer, but coming into the warmer months I can’t help but notice how DRY it’s beginning to look. Luckily though, I also packed the Loreal True Match Concealer which is super creamy and I’m trying to use up! It’s all about balance haha.

LUMA Illuminating Highlighter Balm-
I am a BIG fan of Luma they just know how to get a product right!
If you’re looking for a product that gives you the glossiest sheen, this is THE one and only. It’s the cherry on top for a day when you just want a fresh finish with some bushy brows.

Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder-
Has anyone ever heard of this powder before? HAHA
I’m gonna skip sounding like a broken record and just say it’s a pretty decent setting powder.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in “Give Me Sun!”-
This bronzer is the only one for me, once I started using this I can’t quite understand how I lived my life without it.

Revolution Sculpt and Contour Kit-
I’ve been finding it hard to reach for this palette as the shimmer and blush are a little too glittery for my liking, BUT THE CONTOUR! For the price ($8.75), it’s the best around.

Innoxa Blush in “Coral Lily”-
This is my CURRENT FAVOURITE blush.
The shade is super flattering on my skin tone and it’s the most subtle coral. Sitting more on the nude side of things it literally goes with everything.

Katy Kat Palette in “Hot Kat”-
The pigment in this is amazing considering it’s just Covergirl.
I’m kind of mad at myself for not using it more often because I really love the honey glazed shades, and the pink tones compliment any look.

Benefit Gimme Brow Fiber Gel-
It took me a little while to get used to this product but trying to catch me without it now?  IMPOSSIBLE. I love brushing my brows backwards and then smoothing over the edges to add V O L U M E.

Revolution Brow Pencil-
It took a while for me to get used to this brow pencil as it doesn’t have a fine tip, it has a triangular shape to it. But I’m getting used to the creamy consistency, and I’m surprised that it does actually last all day long considering how effortlessly it blends!

Covergirl Outlast Active Mascara-
Now that I’m googling this mascara to find out what it’s actually called I’ve realised it performs pretty true to the description. It claims to be Sweatproof and smudge-proof, and it’s TRUE! I can’t say it gives me the longest lashes ever but it combs them through and separates well.

Maxfactor Rise & Shine Mascara-
I had this mascara sitting around and I thought I could use it to layer some thickness on top of the Covergirl mascara. The wand is fibre instead of my preferred rubber wands, and they worked fine together. I hate to say it but, I still can’t help but miss my Loreal Baby Roll Mascara.

Mac Retro Matte Lipstick in “Flat Out Fabulous”-
This shade is my favourite to SPICE up any basic makeup look. Especially a lazy holiday look! Concealer, Brows, Bronzer and this bad boy make a great TEAM.

Mac Lipstick in “Smoked Almond”-
There isn’t a lot of reason as to why I chose to bring this along, it’s simply a very trustworthy nude.

Revlon Ultra HD in “Flirtation”-
The last time I wore this lippy was in my first Week in Lipsticks post, and I love to pull it out in the summertime. If you haven’t tried them, before the texture is similar to a mousse, the less you apply the better! When you do a thin my coat it’s matte but if you layer it on thick you a get more of a shine. Regardless of how you choose to apply, it stays on all day!

Stila Beauty Boss Gloss in “Win-Win”-
A Go-To for when I don’t know what lippy to wear with my makeup ensemble but need something! Your lips but better if I must say…

These are the product’s I take with me every time I need to throw together some travel essentials. Let me know if any of these products are your essentials too?!

Thank you for reading,
Lily R.
